Let your parents know how to make these, it is a lot cheaper
than buying the same thing in a store and it is a lot more fun.

Finger Paint 1/4 cup cornstarch 2 cups water food coloring Mix ingredients in saucepan. Boil until mixture thickens . Allow to cool, then pour into some small storage containers and color with food coloring. Best used on a glossy paper, such as butcher or shelf paper.	Play dough 2 cups flour 4 teaspoons cream of tartar 1 cup salt 1 1/2 - 2 cups boiling water 3 - 4 Tablespoons vegetable oil Food coloring Add oil and food coloring to boiling water. Combine remaining ingredients, and mix well. As you knead it, the dough will get smoother . Store in airtight container. Very pliable and easy to roll or sculpt.
Edible Peanut Butter Play dough 1/2 cup peanut butter 1/2 cup honey 1 cup powdered milk Mix all the ingredients together and knead until smooth.	Baked Clay 2 cups plain flour 1 cup salt 1 to 1 1/2 cups cold water 2 tablespoons cooking oil Create refrigerator magnets, ornaments, cocoons and more.  Knead well until it forms a soft ball then roll out with a rolling pin and use cookie cutters or you can just mold it by hand. You can use food coloring to color the dough before you make your shapes. Line a baking tray with aluminum foil and bake in the oven at 300 degrees or until hard (about one hour). You can use a coat of shellac or clear acrylic to make your salt clay products last longer.
Bubbles 1 cup water 1/3 cup dish soap 2 tablespoons light corn syrup  Combine ingredients and blow.	Silly Putty 1 part Sta Flo Liquid Starch 1 part Elmer's White Glue* Food coloring (optional) Mix glue and starch together until it feels like a putty. If desired, add food coloring and mix thoroughly. When not in use, Silly Putty may be stored in an airtight container.  Important Note: Be sure to use Elmer's White Glue, NOT Elmer's "Washable" or "School Glue."
Play Slime Corn starch Water Food coloring (optional) Put cornstarch in bowl and add enough water to make a paste . If desired, you may also add food coloring. This makes a messy slime that goes from liquid to solid.	Pine cone Bird Feeders Large pine cones Peanut butter Birdseed Fishing line, string or yarn Wrap and tie string to pine cone. Spread pine cone with a thick coat of peanut butter then roll it in bird seed. Hang your bird feeders in a spot where you can watch the birds eat.
Rice Collage 1 cup rice 1 teaspoon water Food coloring Paper Elmer's glue  To color rice, add a few drops of food coloring to water in a jar or ziploc bag . Add rice and shake. Let dry on waxed paper. (Caution: This makes a MESS! Wear an apron and cover work area with newspaper.) Children put some glue on a piece of paper and sprinkle rice onto it.

 

Some Halloween Party Ideas

Stuff for a Haunted House: Take black plastic trash bags and cut them open until you have one big black sheet. Then cut strips in the sheet and hag from the ceiling, then when the kids walk throug h it will semi hide what is ahead as well and be fun :) Things to touch can be pealed grapes for eye balls, rice for maggots, spaghetti for worms, macaroni for brains, get a surgical glove and fill it with water and then freeze it for a cold dead hand.

Games for a Party: Pin the Tail on the Pumpkin or Ghost: Same idea as pin the tail on the donkey. Hot Pumpkin: This game is like hot potato, you get a baby pumpkin and get the kids to sit in a circle and pass the pumpkin around the circle while the music is playing, when the music stops, the one with the pumpkin is out, continue until there is only on person remains and they are the winner. Musical Tombstones: This game is like musical chairs, but use thin cardboard boxes decorated as tombstones and have the kids walk like zombies around them.
